60" x 120" Industrial laser cutting machine
Worker loading steel sheet into laser cutter
This monster laser (High Voltage sign is 11" across) provides a
cutting beam...
...which is controlled by this movable head. Think of the laser cutter as
a *very* large plotter with a powerful laser beam instead of a pen. The
laser beam quickly cuts parts out of sheet metal up to 1/2" thick.
This is what a sheet looks like after parts have been weeded out.
After the panel which forms the front and sides of a
ticket machine is cut, it is bent in a press brake like this one. The
round metal bar hanging from the crane is a custom die which is used to
form radiused corners.
In this shot, the die is mounted in the press brake and ready to go.
After cutting and bending, this is what the front and sides look like
During cutting, the laser also etches markings for later use. These
markings indicate where hinges will be welded and bolted into place.
Here is a cabinet approaching completion. The top, bottom, shelf, and
internal support rails have been welded in place.
After hinge installation, the front is separated from the main body with a
plasma cutter.
